Today (October 30th) was the first of two days of vintage racing at the Hutchinson Island race track that leads up to the Hilton Head Concours d’Elegance this weekend. The weather was perfect for a day at the track. There is something for everybody, open wheeled, purpose built racing cars, sports cars and motorcycles. You can walk through the pits and get a close look at the cars and bikes as well as talk to the owners and drivers. The setting is beautiful. The track snakes around the golf course next to the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort, with the Talmadge bridge as a back drop.
Porsche has the RS Spyder on display at the track and they also have instructors there from the Porsche Sport Driving School http://www.porschedriving.com/. They have an Autocross course set up by the pit area, where our clients received lessons and were able to drive the Cayman, Boxster and new ’09 Carrera on the course. Afterwords, the instructors gave hot lap rides in Carrera’s on the race track. Spectators can purchase hot lap rides on the track with Porsche and many of the race participants.
