On the track at Leipzig in the New 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

Porsche Leipzig race track

These pictures are from the Dealer Launch Event for the new 2011 Cayenne at Porsche Leipzig.

This Cayenne is unbelievable! It is luxurious, lighter, more nimble and glued to the road. As I got comfortable with the car and the track I started pushing harder each lap and did my best to get it out of shape without being stupid. It got to where we were four wheel drifting around the turns with total control and confidence. You get lost in the fact that you are driving an SUV! It really does handle like a sports car.

At these events they have a pace car with an instructor followed by six cars driven by the dealers. Every car has a radio onboard for the instructor to communicate with us. The pace car will go only as fast as the slowest car can keep up. Luckily for us I think everyone was a pretty good driver. Our instructor was driving a Carrera Turbo Coupe. The guy who was directly behind the instructor was one hell of a driver. He stayed glue to the instructor’s bumper. After a few laps the instructor radioed for him not to follow so close. After a few more laps he radioed that the new Cayenne Turbo does have a brake pedal. After that, as we were all keeping up, the instructor pushed it more. The guy in the lead Cayenne stayed right with him the whole time. Like I said one hell of a driver, but also one hell of a car.
