1969 Porsche 911 Lightweight

This rare 911 was displayed at the 2011 Amelia Island Concours by Bob Bailey of Sarasota, FL.

This car was the first of six factory prepared 911 “Lightweights” specifically built for the Trans-Am series in 1968 for the U.S. The car was originally ordered by Bert Everett through Bob Holbert. Bert decided to keep his old 911 and turned the delivery of the car to the current owner. He raced the car in Trans-Am successfully for years competing in 19 Trans-Am races, including 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Five years ago, the car was sold to film producer Michael Scott in Los Angeles. Michael spent five years restoring the car to a very high standard, spending over $200,000 in the process. The car was restored exactly as it raced in 1968, colors, numbers, etc.

Once restored, the film producer called to say he was going to offer the car at auction but wanted to give the original owner first right of refusal. Bob could not refuse the offer.
