1974 IROC Porsche Carrera RSR

In 1974, the first year for the International Race of Champions (IROC), race organizers Les Richter, Roger Penske and Mile Phelps chose the Porsche Carrera RSR 3.0 liter for the competition.  These were identically prepared cars so that the only advantage a driver had was his skill level.  Twelve drivers from all over the world were invited to compete in the four race series.  The competitors scored points in each race and the championship in ’74 went to Mark Donohue.

This car was on display at the Amelia Island Concours.
