This is the final post of the five 356’s at this years Amelia Island Concours. It was displayed by Victor and Marisela Alvear of Guaynabo Puerto Rico. The description read:

This 1959 356A was ordered in US trim (bumpers, lights and instrumentation) by a young, single dentist from South Dakota. He took delivery at the Porsche factory in early 1959.

The owner, while touring Germany, attracted the attention of a young Fräulein, who became his wife. She accompanied him and his 356A home. After 40 years the original owner parted company with his 356 (what about the Fräulein, are they still together?) and sold it to the current owners. They commissioned the car’s restoration at Europa Macchina in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania.

All drive train components are original to the car, as are the colors and fabrics. The car’s first outing was the Porsche Club of America’s National Parade in 2005. It received the “Best 356A” award as well as The Weissach Award for outstanding restoration. Recently it was awarded “Best Porsche” at the Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance. The car has also participated in multi-state driving tours.
